A cleaner database or a clean start
Over time, a PrestaShop database can accumulate orphaned records, translations belonging to deleted languages, remains left behind by old modules and thousands of abandoned carts. These records can increase the size of the database and make maintenance or upgrades more difficult.
Another common challenge is preparing a development or test store for launch without keeping its sample products, test customers and trial orders.
Webstart PrestaShop Cleaner is designed for both tasks: it can inspect and clean the existing database or remove catalogue and transactional data before the store goes live.
What can the module do?
- 🔍 Database integrity check and repair: checks more than 140 table relationships and removes orphaned records, such as image entries belonging to products that no longer exist. It also cleans unnecessary records from _lang and _shop tables, removes duplicate configuration entries, rebuilds the category tree and clears image and template caches.
- 🧹 Database cleanup and optimisation: removes carts older than one month that are not linked to an order, deletes expired or inactive cart rules and renumbers the positions of back-office menu items.
- 📦 Complete catalogue removal: deletes products, combinations, product categories, features, attributes, manufacturers, suppliers, images, price rules, stock records and the search index. The Home and Root categories, installed modules and store configuration remain in place.
- 🧾 Order and customer data removal: deletes customers, addresses, carts, orders, invoices, credit slips, messages, guest records and visitor statistics, together with tables belonging to supported and recognised modules. Employee accounts, installed modules and store configuration remain unchanged.
Built-in safeguards
- 🛡️ Table existence checks: before running a query, the module checks whether the required table exists. This helps it handle database structure differences between supported PrestaShop versions.
- 🔄 Fault-tolerant processing: a failed query does not stop the complete inspection process.
- ✅ Double confirmation: destructive operations require both acceptance of a confirmation statement and a separate browser confirmation.
- 📋 Detailed results: after completion, the module shows which queries were executed and how many rows each operation affected.
These safeguards help prevent accidental operation, but they do not replace a current and verified database backup.
Two different cleanup options
Remove the catalogue
Use this option when you want to keep the store configuration and installed modules but remove the existing products and related catalogue information.
Remove orders and customers
Use this option when you want to remove test purchases, customer accounts and transactional information before launching the store.
The two operations can be performed independently, so you can remove only the data that is no longer required.

Important information
All deletion operations performed by the module are irreversible. Only run them after creating and verifying a complete database backup.
On a multistore installation, cleanup and deletion operations affect the entire database, not only the currently selected store.
The module is intended for database maintenance and controlled data removal. It is not a backup or database recovery tool.

Installation in approximately 5 minutes
- Upload and install the module through the PrestaShop back office.
- Create and verify a complete database backup.
- Open the module configuration page and select the required operation.
- Review the confirmation carefully, then start the process.
Updates, licence and support
Each licence is valid for one online store and includes one year of updates and support. Updates are installed by Webstart Updater from digitally signed packages.
The module does not transmit customer data. For licence validation, it sends only the module version and the store domain to the licence server.
